CP2K User Meeting 2018

CP2K (www.cp2k.org) is a freely available program for atomistic simulation of condensed phase systems using various levels of theory, from classical pair-potentials to Density Functional Theory and post-HF corrections (MP2, RPA, GW).

The next edition of the annual CP2K User Meeting will take place in Lincoln on Friday 12th of January 2018. As usual we will have a mixture of application talks and updates on some of the latest features available in CP2K. This year’s keynote speaker will be Prof. Jorge Kohanoff from Queen’s University Belfast.

Travel funding is available for UK academics - please submit an estimate of your costs when you register. Of course others are welcome to attend, although you will have to cover your own travel costs.

Registration is open from now until the end of December 2017 - register here.

Exascale Applications and Software Conference (EASC18) - Deadline Extended

There will also be an opportunity to submit papers to a special edition of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing and a prize for the best paper and for the best student contribution.

Diversifying Your Workforce: Virtual Tutorial Wednesday 6th December 15:00

Toni Collis, EPCC
The under-representation of women and minorities is a challenge that the entire supercomputing industry faces. As a community we are only just beginning to measure and understand how 'leaky' our pipeline is, but attrition rates are likely as high as the general tech community: 41% of women working in tech eventually leave the field (compared to just 17% of men).
This session will discuss the work being carried out by Women in HPC to diversify HPC. I will discuss the challenges we face and suggestions for making useful changes to improve inclusion in the workplace, benefitting everyone including those that are currently under-represented.

Further details, including joining instructions, can be found at: Virtual Tutorials and Webinars
