Salome_CFD User Meeting and Training, Manchester, UK, 5-6 June 2018

User Meeting - 5 June 2018

EDF Energy, EDF R&D and Renuda invite you to participate and submit your work for presentation at the inaugural UK Salome_CFD: Salome platform and Code_Saturne CFD solver User Meeting, which will be held at the University of Manchester on 5 June 2018. The User Meeting will be followed on 6 June by a free Salome_CFD training course for delegates.

The User Meeting is a forum where the Salome_CFD industrial and academic community gets together, presents its work, discusses projects and can meet with the Code_Saturne development team, who will also present the latest Salome_CFD functionalities and software road map.

Course participants will be able to choose between a basic, practical training with Salome_CFD or a free-form advanced course.

Training - 6 June 2018

A practical training exercise will guide first time Salome_CFD users, or anyone new to CFD, through a first analysis using the Salome CAE platform and Code_Saturne CFD solver, from building a CAD model to performing simulations and analysing them using the Paravis module.

Advanced users will be given an insight into Code_Saturne’s Fire Modelling functionalities and get the opportunity to ask questions and discuss problems relevant to their own specific projects or industries with Code_Saturne developers and experts. Questions can be submitted in advance of the training session and delegates are invited to bring their own cases to the course.

To register, submit your presentation abstracts or questions go to www.code-saturne.org/cms/Registration-UK-user-meeting-2018-edition.

Performance Analysis Workshop

19-21 June 2018, UCL

This workshop is organised by VI-HPS for the UK PRACE Advanced Training Centre to:

  • give an overview of the VI-HPS programming tools suite
  • explain the functionality of individual tools, and how to use them effectively
  • offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the tools

All attendees will be given access to ARCHER, however, all tools covered are designed for portability so will be applicable to any HPC system. On completion participants should be familiar with common performance analysis and diagnosis techniques and how they can be employed in practice (on a range of HPC systems). Those who prepared their own application test cases will have been coached in the tuning of their measurement and analysis, and provided optimization suggestions.

Programme Overview

Presentations and hands-on sessions are on the following topics:

  • BSC tools for trace analysis and performance prediction
  • Score-P instrumentation and measurement
  • Scalasca automated trace analysis
  • MAQAO performance analysis and optimization
  • Full details and registration at www.vi-hps.org/training/tws/tw28.html.
